Today would have been Mignon’s birthday. She was born in Tennessee in 1909. Her parents, Moses and Jean Walker, were old friends of my grandparents from Montgomery, Alabama. My grandparents roomed with them when they first arrived in Detroit.

I’m afraid she died in 1986. I think I am going to have to do an unwordless post about Mignon. While looking for old newspaper articles I found some information that really surprised me and gave me a different picture of who she was and the life she read.

I think it was a good surprise. She turned out to be not who I was thinking she was. Not that I thought about her a lot.
