Father and sons – Atkinson 1952

My grandfather, Dr.  Albert B. Cleage Sr, Uncle  Atty. Henry Cleage and my father, Rev.  Albert B. Cleage, Jr. (aka Jaramogi Abebe Agyeman)

Here is a photograph that has quite a bit of damage but still, it is one of my favorite pictures of my father. It was taken on the front porch of my grandparents house at 2270 Atkinson.  Today would have been my father’s 101 birthday. He has been gone for 12 years.

  1. I think they’re sitting on a porch glider. My grandparents had one on their porch and its gentle swing was the rhythm of summer. A great photo.

    1. They were sitting on a glider. The cushions were updated later and that glider stayed there until I had children. I think it got carted away by junkies during the heroin invasion of Detroit. We had a glider on our upper porch when we lived on Calvert but it didn’t make the move to the next house for some reason.
