This will be my twelfth year doing the A to Z Challenge. I’ve considered several different themes in the past week. After reading On This Day in April by CRGalvin, I decided to use the event of the day for my theme also. Everyday during April I will pick an event from that date from my family history and write about that, using different years and decades and branches, I hope to find enough to fill up the calendar.
Making it even more interesting will be making the events of the day also match the letter of the day!
That’s a fun topic! It feels a little like a puzzle to figure out both the anniversary date and the day’s letter theme.
Oops. I forgot to put my name in the form.
When I started picking the events, I forgot I had to also fit them to the alphabet. I will have to be creative with some headlines ;D
Such a great theme! I’m pretty confident you’ll be able to come up with something for each letter.
So far I am coming up with a word that fits. Working away now.
How fun to tie in to the actual date! I always enjoy the snippets of history you share.

It’s really surprising to me that this is going so much quicker than any other theme I considered would have been. And how much I am enjoying the process of putting it together.
Oh, this sounds like fun, Kristin. I look forward to reading what you have chosen for each day and each letter. I’m still struggling to find a theme that inspires me. Your idea is encouraging. Cheers!
I’m looking forward to reading whatever you choose to write about too!
Looking forward to following along again
Looking forward to your comments and questions as I go along!
I don’t think I could come up with 26 events, let alone A to Z! I wish you success!
I found events for all but two days. I’m afraid I may have to either use members of the community for those days, or more likely, use an event from the closest Sunday.
What an intriguing way to work through the month! Here’s hoping lots of interesting things happened in your families in Aprils past. Thanks for letting me read along.
Not as many things happened in April as happened in the winter months, but more than I expected.
Hi Kristin! This looks like another fascinating A to Z! Can’t wait to see what your family was doing in various Aprils. That’s going to be an interesting hop through time.
I’m finding it interesting how many different types of things happened with my family in April.
Great theme!

Thanks!
Don’t think I could find an event for every day in April in my family tree even looking at birthdays and anniversaries. So I have made mine easier to research – places in my family history.
Good luck with your theme!!
That sounds interesting too. I’ve found quite a few events through short newspaper clips. This leaves out the rural family members and favors members who had relatives in the newspaper business. I’ve also just started looking at dated photographs. I’m almost done! Fastest getting it together ever.
Twelve years is quite an accomplishment! I can’t wait to see how this unfolds for you as I’m most certain that I could not complete your challenge 😉 Good luck!
Thanks! It’s coming together!
This is a great theme. Looking forward to following along.
