For this year’s A to Z Challenge I am posting an event involving someone in my family tree for that date. It may be a birth, a death, a christening, a journal entry, a letter or a newspaper article. If the entry is a news item, it will be transcribed immediately below. Click on photographs to enlarge in another window.

I had a difficult time finding an item for April 29. My family seems to have skipped that date. Or perhaps just made no record of happenings. Then I remembered that for several years I have done the National/Global Poetry Writing Month along with the A to Z Challenge. There had to be some poems written on the 29th. There were. I chose the one below.
I almost forgot today's poem.
Lying in bed, writing
on my phone.
Still enough light to see the sky,
trees silhouetted.
The light from the
office reflects on the window.
I get up and snap
a photo.
Done.

Amazing what we can recall at the last minute
So true.
Do what you have to do to cover all the letters. Or in your case, all the dates 🙂
I’ve been taking notes of all the happenings this month in case I ever do this topic again!
I have never been able to write poetry. I have tried. I enjoy a few poems, but it isn’t my favorite genre. I did enjoy reading yours!!
This isn’t my best one, but it fit the bill!
Fun post and delightful poem!
I’m so glad I didn’t forget to write it!
Done! (I needed to have learned that technique this year, when every post has taken way too long!)
I think mine were mostly shorter this year. I enjoyed your longer ones.
Some letters really challenge us so you did well to come up with a solution. nearly there now.
In this case it was the dates that were more of a challenge. I can find a title starting with the letter of the day to fit.
A lovely poem and portrait
I’m looking pretty firm.
Now your poem is included in your April family happenings! I love how visual it is – I can see everything you’re “doing” in the poem and the idea of making a poem out of everyday actions like that is a great reminder to see the beauty and potential in everything.

My poems are usually about everyday things or memories. Especially when I have to write a poem everyday!
Great solution for the day’s post & a fine poem!
Thanks Jilo 🙂
I love when poetry just clicks and voila, problem solved.
Me too.
Well done. This is the first year I did the challenge of a poem a day through April (not posting them anywhere, though). I enjoyed it, although it’s a shame it’s the same month as the A to Z – my activities don’t seem to space themselves out very evenly.
I agree! Of course I could do it a different month. The prompts are up all year .
Y is sometimes harder than Q n X. This year and also last year I had the same issue. Good for you that you found such a nifty solution!
I was quite pleased!
