It’s been hard for me to get into the Christmas spirit this year. Everyday seems to bring some new report of violence, both here and around the world. This years offering for Footnote Maven’s Blog Caroling is Silent Night sung by Sweet Honey in the Rock. It combines a version of the carol combined with pictures of the demonstrations that have swept the nation after the police actions in Ferguson, MO and New York. May next Christmas find us closer to true Justice for all in this country and Peace around the world.
Thank you, Kristin. Much needed.
I thought so too.
Much needed. Thanks Kris
I was thinking the same thing. Your post was well said and really needed. Thank you.
Thanks Jan and Bernita. I did have a happy Christmas with my family, even and in spite of.
I agree, its been very hard to get in the Christmas spirit this year with all that has been going on in this country and abroad. I believe that’s why I chose a fun song from my childhood days to feature for this year’s blog caroling event. But, I thank you for this beautiful Christmas carol that reflects what we ALL pray will be for us in 2015 and beyond — true PEACE!
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
Thank you Liv. Now I have to go listen to your carol.
Hear hear. Beautiful carol. Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas Angella!
Thank you for this, Kristin. The song and accompanying images captured the message of Christmas along with the unholy dissonance of the world we live in. It’s a sad time, but there’s hope in the determined and persistent spirit of activism that is sweeping the country, despite the media attempts to silence and discredit it. Peace and love to you and your family, and to us all. x J
