Here is my Uncle Henry Cleage with his adoring mother, Pearl. Henry was born March 22, 1916, the third of my grandparents 7 children. He always told us his nickname was “Happy”. He looks pretty happy here. Henry grew up to be an attorney, a printer, an editor, a writer, a farmer and a philosopher. Not in that particular order. He lived until 1996, when he died from cancer.

What an adorable young boy!…and I believe he knew it!…his mother does look like she adores him so!
A cheeky little chap destined for great things.
You are so fortunate to have such a wealth of pictures. I can't even decide which one I like the best. Priceless!
Not only is this a lovely photo, I love the chair, Pearl's hair and blouse!
he does look like a happy boy. were you close to him?
Angela, yes, I was very close to him. My parents divorced when I was 8. My mother married my Uncle Henry when I was 14 so he was an uncle and a second father to me. We moved to Idlewild where Henry lived in 1986. He lived a couple of miles away and ate dinner with us most days and spent a lot of time at our house discussing and arguing and talking about the good old days. I still miss him a lot.
Oh, what a sweetie! Born happy. You can see how much your Grandma adores him. Awesome picture.

What a wonderful photo! He had an adorable smile and look at those eyes. He was so very handsome as a young boy. What a Gem!
I think that is the most adorable baby picture I have seen. The mother looks very nice too.
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful picture with us. What an adorable baby! You are blessed to have so many treasures.
I love everything about the picture. Henry's a fine baby.
That has to be one of the loveliest ever mother and baby pictures.Such a sweet smile and an truly adoring mother in a really natural pose.
That is an exceptional photo…the setting, the poses, the expressions. And look how well it has survived. I think we lost a lot with the introduction of color photos and modern processing…everything is fading now.
You have the best photos! This one is beautiful. Pearl is lovely and little Henry is definitely Happy!
Henry would be happy to read that everybody thinks he was a beautiful baby. So would my Grandmother.
Great picture!!
That child is personable. Rarely do children look that personable. Grand image.
That's a beautiful pose. It's much more natural than most photos I've seen from that period.
This looks like a Gertrude Kasebier photograph. Beautiful!!!
A wonderful treasure. Henry has his happy eye on some unseen person, the photographer with a toy perhaps?
