My oldest daughters, Jilo and Ife, playing jacks on Uncle Louis Cleage’s patio in Idlewild, Michigan. We were visiting after my mother died. We still lived in Simpson County, Mississippi.

How nice to have a photo of your girls playing jacks. As children we often played jacks but no one ever thought to take a photo.
Beautiful snapshot in time!
I had forgotten all about jacks. I remember it from being a kid but I can’t remember how to play. Great photo – full of life and history.
A Grand Photo |Kristin ! I too had forgotten jacks. Another nice example of your lovely family .x
This photo reminds me of the hours I spent playing jacks. I often got splinters in my fingers from scooping the jacks on wooden planks. Perfect photo.
Jacks! Oh my, you brought back such happy memories with my cousins!
I remember playing jacks too! Very fun game. Ahhh memories of playing outside…
That is a great photo. I remember playing jacks on the floor of the classroom when it was too rainy to go out to play. Growing up in Arizona, it didn’t happen too often.
What a great picture to match this week’s prompt!
I’d completely forgotten about Jacks – thanks for the reminder, and the charming picture.
Perfect match!
That’s a lovely photo. Jacks was such a fun game.
Hello Ms. Cleage,
I absolutely love your page! I am from McMinn County, TN and have recently taken an interest in the Cleage’s. I was recently at the Cleage Family Cemetery not far from the Cleage home. I didn’t know if you would be interested in the pictures from the cemetery. If so, email me and I’ll send them to you. The cemetery is in terrible shape and is very overgrown.
I LOVED jacks. I could sit for hours and play, challenging myself to get those twosies, threesies, etc without missing in the sequence.
I was the Jacks Queen back in the day!
What a wonderful photo of the two girls having fun! The context behind the photo makes the picture even more meaningful.
