A Cleage Family Photo – 1951

Several years ago I received this photograph of my grandparents with all of their children and 3 of their 7 grandchildren. My sister and I must have been at our maternal grandparent’s house.  We do appear in the header photograph in front of the same house and the same year.

Front: Warren Evans, Henry Cleage, Pearl Cleage holding Dale Evans; Dr. Albert B. Cleage Sr holding Ernest Martin. Back: Gladys Cleage Evans; Louis Cleage; Anna Cleage; Albert B. Cleage Jr; Barbara Cleage Martin; Hugh Cleage. Summer 1951. 2270 Atkinson, Detroit, MI.

    1. Thanks Bernita. One of my cousins sent it to me after we started corresponding about family history. Apparently someone had sent her mother a copy way back when.

    1. I know. I don’t remember another group family photograph until about 1978 or so. Don’t know why we didn’t take more.

  1. Dr. Cleage was looking Good as a Pop-Pop! I love his EXPRESSIONS in the many photos of him. I like him! He always looked so INQUISITIVE! loved the babies. I know they got a laugh at Aunt Gladys. She had Mom’s look…..

  2. Wow – have seen pictures of all of them as kids and then again when closer to the age where I remember them, but don’t recall any other photos of them all together at this age.

What do you think grand-daddy is saying to baby Ernie?

  3. I love it when people are willing to give you photos of the family…I have received quite a few since I have been on this journey. Thanks for sharing yours.

    1. I’ve gotten quite a few photographs but I think this may be one of the two that have been of my family. I try to do the right thing and scan and give back family photos that I have too.

    1. Me too! I saw a photo today of one of my cousins great grandmother’s from her other side of her family and she looks so much like her! Amazing how those looks pass down. Makes me wonder who we would look like if we had older photos.
